New hairdo

Bathtime is so fun with Brynne! Mom has been experiementing with her hairstyling techniques

On a side note - for those of you with children...
The best thing we have done so far is take a class by kingdom parenting ministries. Words can't describe how different the children are whose parents "parent" with these Biblical techniques. We have several friends whose 2 years olds are amazing examples to us. We highly recommend it!
You can check it out at: www.kingdomparenting.org

What a Week!

Of all weeks for the camera to break....it was not this one! Two days ago, Brynne crawled from one side of the living room to the other, and hasn't stopped since!!! None of this do we have on camera!!! Our sweet neighbor did let us borrow her camera last week after Brynne's first experience with the "Biter Biscuit." Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

Baltimore

This past weekend, we headed to Baltimore, MD to visit Missy (my good friend since the 6th grade) and her husband Mark. We had a GREAT time getting to relax, hang out, spend time as a family and with friends, and of course, enjoy not working. The weather was gorgeous...a great break from the Texas heat and humidity. However, Baltimorians think they're dying in their 85-90* heat and their 30% humidity! They just need so spend one day in Houston and they'd never complain again. We ate almost every meal outdoors.
Brynne did great on the plane both ways, but she did have a meltdown in the car between the airport and Missy's house on the first day. She is sitting up on her own, crawling about 3 "crawls," and interacting more everyday. Her favorite word is "ba" and her favorite past time is flirting with boys and/kissing them...especially Mr. Mark! Unfortunately, our camera broke on the first day so we have very few pics, but Missy sent us some.

Horseshoe bay

We had a wonderful time on vacation last weekend with our family. Brynne loved splashing in the pool and being the center of attention with her grandparents. Horseshoe Bay is so beautiful, and a great get-away!

Check out the view where we ate lunch. Yes, that is a golf course behind the window with million dollar homes along it.

"The water is too cold for me, but I'm perfectly entertained just sitting in my float and chewing on these toys on the side of the pool. I'm a lounge queen already."

"This vacationing business is hard work...I can only make my grandma laugh so much before I need my beauty rest."

Brynne now gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth..she's close to crawling!

Brynne loves the water!

'Ode to Amy

Hopefully you have one of those friends.
They're the friend that knows what you're thinking before you say it, they know when you're down or when you have something to confess. They know what you need to cheer you up, what needs to be said when you've been off track and you need a genuine kick in the bum, and they recognize the times when you need to hang out but say nothing. I met Amy freshman year of college. We were accountability partners in our Bible study and have been ever since. We have stayed as close as sisters despite several moves, and then the Lord brought us back into the same town in '04. She's the friend that will drop whatever and be there in a second...and being within miles from each other, that has happened often over the last 3 years. This weekend, she is moving back to Corpus. It is the best thing for her and her family, but my heart is in mourning. This friendship is truly divine intervention and has made a major impact in my life. I know we will continue to stay close and visit each other...we already have our web cams set up to go. I'll miss you Amy! Thanks for being the amazing friend you are! - Mel

The Men We Love

In a belated celebration of Father's day, Brynne has a wonderful inheritance we must share. She will one day understand the amazing blessing of the lineage she came from, and the men that have made such wonderful contributions to it. We'd also like to remember the other great grandpas who are no longer with us - S.C. Thompson, Lester Studdard, and William Roberson. Thank you for the lessons you've shared, the wisdom you've taught, and the love you've given. We love you!

On the Move

You don't have to be around Brynne long to know she is a very active child! She is constantly moving, jumping, giggling, etc... She has learned how to pull her legs under her and push up with both hands...she'll be crawling before we know it! She's rolling like crazy, but we haven't gotten the sitting thing down yet!

Fun in the Pool

Brynne got to meet up with her lil' buddy Thatcher this weekend. She absolutely loved swimming in the pool for the first time...and getting to hang out with Thatcher. The girl has some smooth moves with her boyfriend!
Brynne got to help mommy change the sheets on the bed. Just had to throw this one in because it's too cute!

Eat, Bathe, Eat, Bathe

Brynne got a taste of something besides cereal for the first time...squash!! She absolutely loved it. You can tell by the cheeks how malnourished she is! It's amazing to compare this bathtub picture to the post in February!
